The Advantage of Humor in Sitcoms
Charlie is the egotistical, control freak who uses sex appeal, money and confidence to control the outrageous brother and the abundance of women in his life. Alan has no chance against Charlie. He is divorced and broke, without a place to live, and low self-esteem. Much of the fun sitcom is born of the battle between the control-freak and his nemesis. Jake, the grandson of Charlie ignored his uncle and prefers to eat, play and physical functions to concentrate. In real life, self-centered people are constantly manipulating us for their own good. This is what the creators of some sitcoms have in mind: Each episode presents an exaggerated reality, so funny, and then the control freak gets his just punishment. In an ironic twist of reality, Kramer – The Spinners – Challenges, frustrated and makes use of Jerry, and go a bit “nuts as well.
Roz and Daphne at regular intervals a little “well chewed. Control freaks are magnets emotionally for the rest of us who do not have a grandiose self-esteem importance. A good sitcom takes this appeal to connect to the characters.
Many sitcoms feature a control freak, often a man to be the center of his universe sought. One or more life around this character and the quality of his jokes and putdowns turn. To counter this, the force is an arch-enemy, often in place to keep the control freak in control.
